This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the First International SIPAIM Workshop on Processing and Analysis of Biomedical Information, SaMBa 2018, held in conjunction with MICCAI 2018, in Granada, Spain, in September 2018. The 14 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in this volume. The papers cover the following topics: Medical imaging, Digital pathology, E-health, and Motor analysis and biosignals. The purpose was to present success stories of science, research and innovation stemming from Latin American and to encourage the formation of international academic networks in biomed- ical research with a strong component in medical information processing.
